Pornic
We are located in the North Vendée, near the department Loire Atlantique. We like to visit over there the town of Pornic (14.000 inhabitants) at 30km. Going to Pornic we cross the marsh land with its typical small ports and the salt marshes. Pornic is a very popular harbour for tourists with its castle, its casino and its market halls. We like to walk on the quays of the old port, where unfortunately are few fishing boats left. Pornic has the look and feel of Brittany with its white houses covered in slates, as it used to be part of Brittany till the 1960’s. It is also a very lively and commercial town. You can enjoy delicious seafood. Pornic also has a marina with many yachts.

What to do in Pornic
From the end of the 19th century Pornic became a very sought after seaside resort. There is amongst others a Thalassa with sea views. Hikers can enjoy a former customs patrol path that runs along the coast for 14 km. It is a very pleasant walk mostly overlooking the sea. The coast is rather rocky with nice little beaches scattered among the rocks. You can also admire magnificent 1900s style villas built in front of the sea and the fisheries in the sea on stilts. Pornic has an 18 hole golf course, part of which has a sea view. Please find further information on our Golf page.
