Our photo contest 2021 theme “typical French”

2021 photo contest winners

Our jury for the 2021 photo contest has been busy emailing each other over the past few weeks (Stéphanie ROBARD from the Tourist Office of our municipality of Challans-Gois and Claudia LAUMEL from Natur’Allemand in Givrand) and they didn’t have it easy….the ladies have all 33 participating photos (2 children and 31 adults) viewed multiple times. In the end, the jury reached a unanimous verdict. On the 2 accompanying photos for both categories the winner and the runner ups around it. Our heartfelt thanks to all participants and the jury! This year the theme of our photo competition is “Blue, white and/or red” (nature, water, sea, boat, etc.).

Our photo contest 2021 theme “Typical French”

As we see each year so many nice holiday photos of our guests, we have started a photo contest for the first time in 2014. The theme for 2021 was “Typical French” and everyone who stayed with us between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 was kindly invited to participate in our photo contest. All guests were free to photograph what he or she wanted, as long as their holidays (in any form) was on the picture and the picture was taken in the Vendée or in a radius of 100 km around us. A maximum of 1 photo per person.

As we can see below, we have received 33 beautiful and very varied photos. A total of 2 children’s submissions (up to 17 years) and 31 adults.

We have an independent jury that knows our region well, as well as taking photos and / or being able to judge:

Stéphanie ROBARD from the Tourist Office of our municipality Challans-Gois https://www.challansgois-tourisme.fr/

Claudia LAUMEL from Natur’allemand in Givrand www.facebook.com/naturallemand or her website www.naturallemand.com

The jury will meet in January 2022. We are very curious to kwow the winners. For the 2 winners there is a choice of enlarging the winning photo or a package of tasty things from our area.

The photos below are internet quality because of the loading of the photos on our site. Our jury will get to see the original photo that is self-evidently in higher quality.

3rd of August 2021, UPS van stuck on the Passage du Gois

This morning we heard several sirens passing by. We just had a look at the webcam of the Passage du Gois. Help is nearby so we are sure everything will be fine for the occupants. The car in the seawater is of course a different story….

15th of August 2021, new camera and photo’s of campervans and birds

Please take a look at the beautiful pictures Hemko has taken over the past few weeks. Very different birds in a radius of 25 km from our house. Do you recognize them all?? We sense a new activity coming on for quiet and interested guests, who want to join him in the evening. With his new camera you can zoom in well, so also a photo of a camper with 7 people in it, that got stuck on the Passage du Gois this week. The occupants were rescued by 2 people on jet skis, who took them to a boat.

1st of July 2021, pearls in clams

Did you know it existed; pearls in clams? We have learned something new in any case. Maybe one day we’ll find one too….. We are once again enjoying our summer activities with our guests. Clam fishing, net fishing and evening walks. Shrimp season is upon us again, as are the guided tours of the Jardin de la Cure and our favorite salt farmer Thierry Odeon. We also do magnet fishing for the enthusiasts.

15th of July 2021, again a table d ‘ hôtes

AT LAST (with an appropriate distance 😉) after more than a year and a half…again a table d ‘ hôtes

7th of June 2021, Update June 2021

How are you?? Everything fine here. Since this week we live in our summer residence. It’s been a bit quieter on our social media lately. We hadn’t realized it in all the hustle and bustle due to our work and immediately change it with a few very diverse photos from yesterday/Sunday. A photo of our well in which the water level has already dropped quite a bit. We had a very dry spring, which meant that sea salt was already being harvested in April. Hemko found a brand new Ajax scarf at a flea market (and some other fun things for our weekly activities). Yesterday Hemko also managed to get a nice picture of a dragonfly in our garden.

10th of June 2021, Bananas in our garden

Do you see the bananas and the flower bud hanging below? We’ve walked past it a hundred times in our garden in the past few weeks without seeing it… and it’s literally at eye level. Can you imagine? Time for new glasses??
